A brief history
Valledupar’s cultural life is closely tied to the songs and stories of vallenato. Accordion, caja drum and guacharaca accompany a tradition heard at musical gatherings and celebrations.
Alfonso López Square, the museums and the Guatapurí reveal different sides of the city. In 2019 Valledupar joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of Music.
